(1) Background: Sensing of critical events or flow signatures in nature often presents itself as a coupled interaction between fluid and arrays slender flexible beams, such wind-hairs whiskers. It is hypothesized that important information gained highly noisy environments by the inter-correlation within array. (2) Methods: The present study uses model sea lion head with artificial whiskers form beams (optical fibres), which are subjected to mean overlaid turbulent structures generated wake cylinder. Motion tracking array fibres used analyse correlation bending deformations pairs fibres. (3) Results: Cross-correlation signal from tandem proves detection vortices their passage along animals possible even environments. underlying pattern, during vortex core, jerk-like response whiskers, can be found at later arrival-times similar downstream whisker’s response. (4) Conclusions: Coherent vortical detected cross-correlation cantilever-beam like sensors flows. Such carry environment, e.g., convection velocity. More importantly nature, these characteristic elementary signals left prey predators. work help further develop flow, event, sensory systems overcome high noise levels due proposed principle.
